LA Project II.
Schon Peter Friestedts erstes L.A. Project löste Begeisterungsstürme
aus. Seine zweite CD "L.A. Project II" ist nicht minder
furios. Die Gästeliste verzeichnet wieder etliche Hochkaräter.

"Where to touch you"
Totosound im Westcoastgewand - Joseph Williams' (Totosänger
während der "Pamela" und "Stop loving you"
Ära) Stimme passt perfekt. Im Chorus gesellt sich Bill Champlin,
Keyboarder und Sänger von Chicago dazu. Champlin übernimmt
die Leadvocals im zweiten Song "Cheyenne". Friestedt
und Goodrums Komposition würde auch einem Chicago Werk gut
zu Gesicht stehen. Knackige Bläsersätze und ein infizierender
Groove, klar JR Robinson sitzt an den Drums. "One more night"
Joseph Williams zum Zweiten. Peter Friestedt's Gitarrensolo mündet
in einen mehrstimmigen Harmoniegesang.
"I'm through with crying,
cause now I'm bound for better days. I'm through with denying
cause happyness finally came my way. My spirit's rising, cause
I'm flying on the wings of joyful thinking." Bill Cantos
vorzügliche Vokalarbeit, sein jazziges Pianosolo, das in
ein Solo von Peter Friestedt übergeht, es ist eine Freude
zuzuhören. "There ain't nothin', hat einen "catchy
hook", bedeutet der Refrain bleibt im Ohr hängen. Der
federnde Bass von Abe Laboriel, JR Robinson am Schlagzeug und
die "Gebläse Einwürfe" von Saxophon, Flöte,
Trompete und Flügelhorn machen "There ain't nothing"
zu einem meiner Favorites.

"Closer to
home" Friestedts Akustikgitarre und Cantos' Piano übernehmen
die Melodieführung. Ein geschmackvolles Instrumentalstück
im Geiste von Earl Klugh.
Funky und soullastig
wie gewohnt: Michael Ruffs Stimme und Keyboards in "Love
is a powerful thing". Tris Imboden Schlagzeuger von Chicago
legt den perfekten Rhythmusteppich, ein weiteres Highlight,
der an Höhepunkten reichen CD.
Wer an hervorragendem
Songmaterial seinen Spaß hat kommt an diesem Werk nicht
vorbei. Die Gästeliste mit 6 verschiedenen Leadsängern
und der Creme der L.A. Sessionszene sorgen für Kribbeln
beim Zuhören. Die CD hat viel 70er und 80er Feeling, gepaart
mit aktuellem Sound.
Schweden
hat sich nicht nur durch Songwriter und Produzenten wie Max
Martin (Leona Lewis, Pink, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears,
Kelly Clarkson), Gitarristen wie Tommy Denander oder international
erfolgreichen Bands wie Abba, A-HA oder Roxette Reputation auf
oberstem Niveau erarbeitet. Auch Peter Friestedt steht in der
Tradition von gutem Songwriting und hörenswerter Musik.

Zink Music and Peter Friestedt presents "LA Project II",
an album that features lead vocal performances by Joseph Williams
(Toto), Bill Champlin (Chicago), Randy Goodrum, Lou Pardini (Koinonia),
Bill Cantos, Michael Ruff and Stefan Gunnarsson. The latter is
the voice behind the bonus track "Always On My Mind",
a song that only is featured on the Zink Music release of the
album. And if the just mentioned isn't enough, mastermind Peter
has brought on an impressive list of friends and musicians to
play on the album and on here we find Abraham Laboriel, John JR
Robinson, Tris Imboden (Chicago), Tommy Denander, Ingemar Åberg
and some of the above mentioned singers that also lend their instrumental
talents to the album.
When it comes to mixing and mastering such a high-quality that
"LA Project II" is, there is no other way than to go
to with the best, so mixing was done by Ronny Lahti at Khabang
& Location Studios while mastering was done in HDCD quality
by well renowned Björn Engelman at Cutting Room in Stockholm
- so expect nothing else than the best sound available!
The album consists of ten songs and Peter has amongst others co-written
with Bill Champlin, Randy Goodrum, Brian Hobbs, Bill Cantos and
Lou Pardini. Regarding the song-writing Peter says: "I have
written some of my strongest material ever, I have been surrounded
by great co-writers and I am very proud of the way the tracks
turned out". Peter's extraordinary guitar work shines throughout
the record, going from sensitive acoustic guitar and slick rhythm
lines to blistering solos.
What makes this record irresistible is the combination of outstanding
musical performances, state of the art song-writing and high quality
production!
